ILLUSTRATIONS FOR ELFRIEDE JELINEK’S NOVEL “LUST”
six paintings 70×100 cm – oil on cardboard
Jelinek’s novel “Lust” that was criticised for being pornographic, grotesquely describes decadent and corrupted post-WW II Austrian society and a woman lost in whirl of sexual exploitation by her husband and her lover.
The illustrations started as croquis drawings during studies at the Academy for fine arts, Zagreb. Later they were modified, and inspired by the novel remade as large oil on cardboard paintings. Few years after the graduation they were again modified.
